Although perhaps the most common solid tumor in young males, testis cancer is actually fairly rare. Testis cancer can occur at any age although the peak age is about 35 years old and most testis cancers that we have seen are in the age group between 18 and 40 years old.
Many years ago testis cancer was a rapidly fatal disease. Now with modern surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, testis cancer is cured in over 90% of patients, even in advanced cases.
It is recommended that men perform a Testicular Self Examination (TSE) once a month and seek evaluation if any lumps on the surface of the testicle are felt.
