What is a Urologist?

Urology is a subspecialty field of surgery. After college, a 9 to 10 year process begins with 4 years of Medical School followed by 2 years in General Surgery residency (including trauma, major vascular, and cardiac surgery rotations). Next are 3 to 4 years of Urology subspecialty training consisting of management and surgery encompassing all aspects of adult and pediatric Urology in a major University hospital, along with research and teaching responsibilities.

The result is a highly trained specialty surgeon... meet the experts at Illinois Urological Institute, S.C.:
